“Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.” ~Zen proverb
Shiatsu is a dynamic touch-therapy that combines elements of massage-type body work with the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to harmonize the body. Sometimes called ‘Acupressure’, Shiatsu uses touch and light-to-moderate pressure to ease aches, pains, tension, fatigue, and symptoms of dis-ease. Shiatsu is also known to help improve sleep and increase flexibility.
Shiatsu works with awareness of the meridians as recognized in acupuncture to move the recipient’s vital-energy (Qi) and integrate the systems of the body to function smoothly.
Shiatsu combines the best of body-work and energy-work to create a truly holistic therapy designed to move the receiver towards balance.
Hannah was trained by her teacher Sati-Sensi in a style of Shiatsu known as Zen Shiatsu. Zen Shiatsu combines all the functionality of the Shiatsu systems with Zen principles of Empty-Mind, non-attachment, and the importance of meditative awareness in the practitioner. It also also places special emphasis on the importance of the energy work and tonifying or pacifying Qi as necessary.
